I am a Chartered Civil Engineer and a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers.
I work for a large, International firm of Consulting Engineers in Victoria, Central London. They are involved in many areas of Construction, Transport Planning and Infrastructure Development.
They used to be known as Acer Consultants. One of their predecessor firms was Freeman Fox and Partners, designers of some of the largest bridges in the world including the Humber Bridge and the first Severn crossing.
They have nothing whatever to do with this site which is why I have not mentioned their name directly.
I worked on the new Concourse at Stratford Station in East London. This is part of the Jubilee Line Extension Project.
This is now open so you can go and see my bit. It has been a centrepiece of the 2012 Olympics preparation.
The Architects for the Concourse and for the Stratford Market Depot just down the road are Wilkinson Eyre Architects (formerly Chris Wilkinson Architects). They have also designed several other, very eye catching, schemes.
These include the Magna Centre, winner of the 2001 Stirling Prize and The Gateshead Millenium Bridge, winner of the 2002 Stirling Prize.
I have more recently worked on the Olympic White Water Canoe Centre and Whitechapel Station for Crossrail.
Most of my time is now spent on various aspects of Health and Safety. Given that the Construction Industry kills about 7 people every month, Health and Safety is a very important matter.
Yes, I know H&S has a bad reputation. Mostly this is because of people using it as an excuse for cost cutting or just avoiding making decisions.
My aim is to help people do the things they need to do - safely.
