Hello, my name is John Haines.

You probably didn't mean to arrive at this page, (if you did I'm flattered), but you're welcome to look around.

I'm in my 50s and live in North-West London with my wife and daughter. I am a Chartered Civil Engineer and spent most of my early career designing Building Structures, which means I used to design the bits of buildings which make them stand up. I am now much involved with Health and Safety in Construction and Rail work. In particular, I act as "CDM Co-ordinator" under the CDM Regulations.

I use PCs at work and home.

A main purpose of this site is to contain a site that I've written in the hope it might be of use to those buying a house and looking at structural survey information.
